The State of the Relationship is the National Centre’s flagship report. The 2018 edition will be the 5th annual review of the state of the relationship between business, universities and policy makers throughout the UK.
In our fundamentally different political and economic environment the UK needs vibrant and productive partnerships that develop graduates and create innovative products and processes. The 2018 report will celebrate the UK’s successes, through collaboration case studies focused on either place or excellence. The 5th Anniversary State of the Relationship welcomes submissions reflecting on developments, evolutions and progress in university business collaboration within the past five years or looking forward and focussing on aspirations for new, innovative and developmental collaborations.
Subject and Format
Case studies should be approximately 500 words in length and should share best practice and inspiration, so we encourage a focus on specific projects and the use of direct quotes from participants about how they benefitted from the collaboration.
As far as possible we would like examples of what difference the collaboration made for the beneficiaries, over and above the collaborating universities and businesses.
Images and Audio
All submissions must include a high-resolution image, including full copyrights. Original photos of participants in collaboration projects and partnerships usually provide the best audience engagement. We also encourage submissions to include videos and links to online content for inclusion in the online edition. Audio interviews, which can be shared as pod-casts are particularly welcomed.
The report is published online with a selection of work featuring in a shorter print edition. You can browse through the 2017 State of the Relationship report.
Submissions received by 31st January 2018 will be eligible for the printed report, but it should be noted that inclusion in the print edition is dependent on space and cannot be guaranteed. All submissions received by the end of March 2018 will be included in the online report.
The National Centre team is happy to help you throughout the process, please submit your case study by contacting SoR@ncub.co.uk, or telephone for advice.
